Dear Brothers and Sisters,
In last months newsletter I mentioned I would update you concerning our new officers. Our Board of Directors now includes Bill Murphy (President), George Maney (Vice-President), Ed Hrostowski (Secretary), Tom Murphy, Mark Gerchman, Tony Klimek, Bill Malinovsky, and myself. These Brothers are responsible for the care and function of our property and to make recommendations to the Council for the well being of our corporation. Our Trustees are Gerald Beurket and Mark Donovan.
The decisions that are made by these men are in turn sent to the real decision makers of this organization. Those people are YOU. Every significant decision that affects the Club is voted on by the membership at our monthly meetings. This is why it is important for you to occasionally, if not regularly, attend a monthly meeting held the first Tuesday of each month. Your opinion is needed, respected, and appreciated. With a membership of over 300, and the help of the "Holy Spirit", we have the ability to weave a rope of knowledge that can withstand the stress of any force that may pressure our Council.
As a reminder, let me state our purpose:
I think you will agree that these are very noble objectives, but can anyone participate in every function? Attend to all the sick and needy? We already have a lot to do in our own personal lives. Is there time for all of this? NO! However, we do have over 300 possible answers to this purpose.
Actually we have more than 300 answers because we have a woman's auxiliary that increases that number. Which reminds me - have you mentioned to your spouse that it would be a wonderful experience to join our woman's auxiliary. They do great things for our club and strive diligently to meet the standards mentioned above. Please ask your mate to contact Shirley Griswold (729-3197) or Rita Novitsky (754-3745) for information about joining. There are many functions during the year that you and your wife could enjoy together and fulfill the purposes stated above.
Finally on this topic. Much of the things that this club accomplishes are done by many members that do not hold office or attend meetings but dedicate time to a wide range of projects we have in place. For example: our biggest fund raiser is the chicken bar-b-q held at the Johnson City Field Days. This event takes an enormous amount of time and effort to accomplish. Imagine preparing for 1500-2000 chicken dinners. It takes three weeks of work from morning till night. Purchasing, preparing, presenting, delivering, cleaning. Teams of members working together for a common goal. We could use your help. Maybe you would enjoy helping our golf committee prepare for our tournament in September, or our membership dinner in the fall, or our polka party, or our turkey party? Have I piled on enough? Well, there is more! How about our banquet committee, youth committee, community, or bereavement. I think you get the hint. We need you. Call Bill Malinovsky (729-2466) to join a team for the bar-b-q.
